Chinese Cyberspies Use PRISM (and Petraeus) as Bait
Cyberspies have wasted no time exploiting the release of secret document about the National Security Agency's digital surveillance methods. Just this week, [they launched] a new spearphishing campaign that tries to lure its victims by sending a malware-laden email that claims to have information on PRISM, the NSA's famous program that collects information on people's Internet activities.

Nintendo Faces Questions over ‘Conflict Mineral’ Policy
Anti-slavery activists are turning their gaze to the gaming world Wednesday, asking Nintendo to release details on its policies regarding “conflict minerals” in its gaming consoles. Walk Free, an anti-slavery group, is asking the Japanese gaming company to provide more information on Nintendo’s use of conflict minerals.

Scientists Explore Ways to Transform Hostility into Peaceful Thoughts
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) wants to understand the science behind human violence; and then find ways to alter an enemy's thoughts by implanting false, but believable stories in their brains. Advocates believe that placing new plausible narratives directly into the minds of radicals, insurgents, and terrorists, could transform enemies into kinder, gentler citizens.

Light Up the West Bank
When international businessmen cross into the West Bank, they take out their passports, turn off their now-lifeless smartphones, and change their mindset from investment to assistance; high-speed mobile Internet is all but nonexistent. Without 3G -- and the economic opportunities that come with it -- the territories will likely continue their slide toward militancy.

Facing Tomorrow
Progress can be achieved by bringing together the expertise and goodwill of the millions of talented young people in our region. Armies cannot conquer science, police cannot arrest innovation. The future belongs to science and peace. Like scientific development, peace cannot be achieved by force, and like science, peace offers us the hope of a brighter future.

MoD: Internet Should be Prepared for 'Militarisation'
A new report on potential scenarios of cyber-conflict, The Global Cyber-Game, says it is inevitable that the internet will be "militarised" -- used to serve the needs of military conflict between nations -- and that ICT will increasingly be both an important means and a target of such conflict.
